The official client is open source, but the latest version of the code is not always released immediately. Server-side code is proprietary.

"Secret Chat" mode uses end-to-end encrypted communication and can only be logged in via two specific devices.
Officials claim that when two users communicate, neither third party, including administrators, cannot access the user's communication content [40]. When a user is having a secret chat, the message containing multimedia can be specified as a self-destruct message. When the message is read by the user, the message will be automatically destroyed within the specified time. Like Snapchat.
