Signal is focused on privacy and cryptocurrency, but it contains the rich features offered in other messaging applications such as WhatsApp and iMessage. One of such features is link preview.
This is how to turn the link preview on or off (including each message).
To generate a link preview, the Signal application uses a privacy-enhanced proxy—the site you are previewing cannot even see your IP address. All websites that include HTTPS encryption support link preview.
How to enable or disable link preview in Signal?
First open the Signal app on your iPhone or Android phone.
Next, click on the profile picture, avatar or username abbreviation in the upper left corner.
Select the Privacy option from the menu.
The next time you send a website to someone, it will automatically add a link preview, or just send a URL, depending on whether you enable or disable the Generate Link Preview setting.
How to delete a single link preview in Signal?
Link previews in Signal do not require previewing all, if you choose to keep the "Generate Link Preview" feature, you can delete the preview before sending a single message.
As above, start the "Signal" app on your iPhone or Android smartphone first.
Next, select a conversation or start a new personal or group chat by clicking the pencil icon in the upper right corner of the app.
Click the "New Message" text box and paste the URL.
The preview image and text clip will appear above the link. To delete it, click the "X" icon in the upper right corner of the preview box.
Now you can send links without preview by clicking the blue arrow button.
The URL will be sent without a link preview.
